SODILINE is a series of test stations for measuring the physical parameters of cigarettes, filter rods, cigars and cigarillos, offering the ultimate in modularity and flexibility.
The SODILINE series consists of six test stations that can accommodate one to six modules. Pick and choose from up to 15 different plug & play modules to create your ideal station. As these modules are interchangeable and each station is extendable, you can change or add a module at any time as your needs vary.

The SODISEAL is a compact non destructive air leak detector used to test the airtightness of  packs. The method used is based on the measurement of a small variation or drop in differential pressure between the pack and reference, when both are filled to an identical pressure.

Overview

SODISCAN-MWS is a capsule filter rod and cigarette analyzer whose speed far exceed anything currently available on the market.
Its high speed means it can measure a large sample number so creating reliable statistics and enabling you to react quickly if production deviates from the specifications. SODISCAN-MWS provides an essential extra check: defects due to damage caused during conveyance or hair-line cracks in the capsule often cannot be detected until 24 hours after production. This gives SODISCAN-MWS a key advantage over online sensors.

Overview

This is an automated scanner that uses microwave technology to analyze tobacco density profiles and moisture content along the entire tobacco rod. Suitable for laboratory and production environments.

Functions:

Front and rear track cigarettes are scanned in batches. Profiles of the mean density of each batch are then displayed as a graph. The mean moisture content, mean density and density profile of each cigarette are measured. The difference between the current cutting position and optimum cutting position is calculated so that the maker can be adjusted. Densed end quality is also measured.

Overview

This is a high-speed, automated scale for analyzing or sorting large numbers of cigarettes or filter rods. Options for sorting up to five customer-defined weights make it highly flexible. It has a top speed of 120 rods per minute.

Functions:

  • Analysis: products are weighed and fed into a collection bin. The data obtained enables an analysis of the maker's accuracy in controlling cigarette or filter rod weight.
  • Sorting: products are weighed and classified according to user-defined weight criteria. They are then fed into separate collection bins according to weight.
  • Maker set up: large batches of cigarettes are weighed at high speed. The data obtained can be used to adjust the weight setup of the maker (external weight verification).

Overview

This measures the standard pressure drop of cigarillos and cigars.

Two options are available:

  • standalone with an internal vacuum pump.
  • with connection to a pneumatic air supply.

Functions:

  • CIGARLAB has a foot pedal for controlling the rod feed into the measuring head. It has three interchangeable measuring heads for cigar diameters ranging from 6 mm to 24 mm.

Overview

This records ambulatory smoking behaviour allowing smokers to smoke in conditions where they feel at home. The unit records time, puff duration, volume of smoke inhaled and pressure drop, and calculates averages and standard deviations. It runs on software that allows profiles to be downloaded onto a PC. They can then be displayed and duplicated on a customized smoking machine or an SPD via the SPA-D smoking puff analyzer.

 There are three authorization levels:

  • unrestricted level: laboratory has full access to all key data, for example, sample number, date and time, smoking frequency, group ID, smoker’s parameters, etc.

  • smoker level: access to smoking data only.

Overview

HUMIDIM is a high-speed oven that measures the moisture content of cut tobacco. It is an alternative to infrared or microwave technology.

Its robust design means minimal maintenance.

Ease of use minimizes errors.

  • sample is automatically weighed before and after drying.
  • automatic moisture correction according to the sample weight.

 Two operating modes are available:

  • The temperature and time can be regulated allowing a single test to be conducted in 3-5 minutes so saving time.
  • A target temperature can be set and monitored so that the drying process is stopped when the slope threshold has been reached.

Overview

This measures conventional cigarette papers providing reliable and consistent data speedily. It also measures the printed bands of LIP paper typically used for self-extinguishing cigarettes. The paper diffusivity meter can accurately predict cigarette burn rates by measuring the gas diffusion capacity of cigarette paper when CO2 diffuses through it.

Features

It can also ensure that burn rates for LIP paper are in line with international regulatory restrictions. Traditional methods for measuring paper porosity provide accurate air permeability readings, however they are not sufficiently precise for predicting cigarette burn rates.
